Everyone is doing the 5 questions thing, and its my turn.
My questions were from Mr Fab. He asked some good ones, and here they are:
- You are the proud owner of some lovely Greyhound dogs. I am curious: given your love for Greyhounds, how do you feel about the Greyhound Dog Racing industry?
This really is a loaded question. When my hubby and I first thought about adopting a greyhound, we did tons of research on the net. What we found was pretty disturbing about the conditions of greyhounds that race. What we read and saw made us even more determined to adopt and we waited weeks for our first greyhound. Then, being around the dogs more we realized how docile and loving these creatures are. My hubby is very much against the racing industry, and I am not against it, I think that there are people out there that own and train greyhounds that do unspeakable things but then there are lots of owners and trainers that love them like we do and treat them very well. It’s a hot button issue when you are involved in Greyhound rescue because if you bad mouth the tracks and owners, you wont be able to get any dogs and then what will happen to them? So while we were involved we were officially neutral. I have been to a race track, my hubby will not ever go because of how he feels. Personally I think the race tracks are dying away, they are just not as popular as they once were. SO while I am not against greyhound racing I am against anyone that mistreats them.
2. You live in upstate
The only things I like about
3.You have a distinct southern accent. Do you find that people make assumptions about people with southern accents?
No, do they? I have lived in the South my whole life so maybe that’s why I have never seen this.
4.You don’t mention in your profile anything about NASCAR or country music. Isn’t a law in
GOD I hope not. I despise country music, its just not my taste. And I really am not into sports. Hubby likes Nascar though.
5. Where in the world IS that bitch Carmen Sandiego???
I think she is stalking YOU hahahaha!!

Great answers, especially to the greyhound one. I knew it would be!
Great answers!!
I enjoy reading the interview answers, is that a Ford mini van?
Thanks guys. Fab, the greyhound one was hard to write, I didnt want to come off as a zealot or something!
Joe, its a Ford Windstar and I love it! Its a big change for me, I have always had small cars and the one before the van was a Neon.
Thanks for the visit, Mel! So, you mean you ACTUALLY read the blogs you visit on BOTB? I'm beginning to think that's a rarity!
The fact that you have greyhounds is amazing to me! As far as I know, we don't have dog racing here in Canada (not in my province, anyway) but I saw some when I visited Houston TX a couple of years ago. The thing that I loved, the one visual that will stick with me forever, was how absolutely adorable I found it to watch the dogs at the end of the race, when the bunny finally stopped and all of them just stood there wagging their entire back ends in such great excitement. It was then that I swore if I ever get a dog, it will be a greyhound rescue. (Thanks for the tips about landing one!)
I have a girlfriend who just moved from here to South Carolina. I will look forward to reading your blog and understanding a little more about her culture shock!
Thanks again for stopping by and even better, for saying hello!
Ok, I'll take the bait :) Interview me!
Well, I could offer a "great answers" comment, but how lame is that. INSTEAD, Mel, I'll be sending you a $2,500 gift certificate to Cartier's (or Sak's, your choice), and an all-expense-paid deluxe weekend for 2 in Hawaii. I guess in times like these you can tell who's genuine, and who's just going along with the flow...
Me I am thinking up your questions :)
Dick, wow!! I am packing my grass skirt now :) You're the best!
Won't argue with you there!
Hey Mel, great responses! I too have mixed feelings about the whole dog racing thing. People are going to do it anyway, so there should be some regulation to keep the animals treated humanely, like the way animals used for research are required by law to be treated in a humane manner.
Baby is a very lucky dog to have found your home!
If the Doctor really meant that, she'd offer to write you any prescription you want.
