Happy New Year!

And all that stuff! We dont really celebrate new years, I cant even drink a drop or my cadiologist has a hissy fit, I am sure what would happen if were to drink (implode?) but he makes out like it would be bad. I dont care for alcohol anyway. My vice is food and gluttony I guess. Anyway we were invited to 2 events but I have a greyhound that is scared to death of fireworks. Alot of the track greyhounds are afraid of fireworks and thunder ( I have some theories as to why ) But Baby we raised from a puppy, and she has no reason to be afraid. But she is absolutely terrified of loud noises. She will run through the house trying to get away from the noise. If she is crated when its starts she will hurt herself trying to get out so now we stay home for her. Fireworks are legal here and there are stands all over. People around here go kinda crazy with the fireworks and the booze LOL I imagine the ER will be full later.

I spent the day shopping with a good friend and I bought things I probably dont need but they were 75% off!! I bought 2 throws for the couches that were considered christmas stuff cuz they were red and I got them for $3 each! Now I cant turn down that kind of a deal! And you women know that rush you get when get a bargain. I dont get that rush often as I dont have the stamina or desire to shop like I used to. But that rush felt good. I read on Spider in the Bathtub's blog that it is an old superstition that you will spend the rest of the year doing what you did on the last day of the old year. I hope not! I dont want to shop all the year LOL.

Be safe tonight bloggers....

Nothing to say.......

Really, not much to say. I am tired, I will be glad when this week is over. How come the short work weeks seem the longest? They do to me anyway.

This is one of those posts when I cant think of anything creative to say so I will post another Hubble photo. The Hubby was telling me he read where these pictures are not really colored like this, they add the colors in later. I am SO dillisullioned by that thought and I REFUSE to believe it! But then I read this on the Hubble website.

Taking color pictures with the Hubble Space Telescope is much more complex than taking color pictures with a traditional camera. For one thing, Hubble doesn't use color film — in fact, it doesn't use film at all. Rather, its cameras record light from the universe with special electronic detectors. These detectors produce images of the cosmos not in color, but in shades of black and white.
Finished color images are actually combinations of two or more black-and-white exposures to which color has been added during image processing.
The colors in Hubble images, which are assigned for various reasons, aren't always what we'd see if we were able to visit the imaged objects in a spacecraft. We often use color as a tool, whether it is to enhance an object's detail or to visualize what ordinarily could never be seen by the human eye.

Well that burst my bubble. *sigh* What a week.

Hi ho Hi HO its back to work I go......

I really am not ready for this. I woke up at 4 with a tummyache, I know its worrying about work. Its bad enough there, but now there is an 18 year Temp that is out to make my life miserable. Geez. I just want to go to work do my job and come home and not have to deal with that shit.

We went and saw The Family Stone yesterday. Great movie but NO one told me it was SAD! I cried and cried. We invited the Friend whose sister is sick to go and I am so glad she didnt! I want to cheer her up not bring her down. They put her sister back in the hospital yesterday, its not looking good. Other than crying though I loved that movie...its was so real, just like a real family. SJP was excellent, and I always love Claire Danes.

OK well its off to work oh JOY

Hollywood Disposable Marriages

There have been so many breakups this year in Hollywood, I think its so very sad. Now, I am a divorced person so I should not be all hypocrital and preachy but I feel these people are not taking marriage seriously at all. What's another annulment or a another divorce? Renee and Kenny lasted 4 months, which was longer than they dated from what I understand. 4 months? I know from my experience that 4 months is nothing, there is no way to judge how the future will be after the first rocky months! Chad Michael Murray...5 months (although it seems he cheated). And Britney was married for like 15 hours the first time? The Hilton sister got an annulment after a few months. I really don't think they are giving it a shot to work at all. So I say Hip Hip hurray for Kathy Griffin and her husband Matt. I watched them on her reality show and thought they were such a cute couple, and really devoted to each other. I was devastated when I heard they were separated (I am still reeling from the Sonny and Cher Divorce!) you know in Hollywood that ALWAYS means divorce. But they have quietly announced that they are back together, trying to make it work. I hope They make it...they have my total support! Go Kathy and Matt...you can do it, dont be another statistic!

That being said though, I am hoping Britney gets rid of that sponge she married!

Here is the 2002 Official White House Christmas Tree....ohhhh pretty! And shiny! Merry christmas!
Merry Christmas and a Happy holiday

We've had a very quiet low key christmas here so far. Very non stressful, I am used to be stressed so much during the holidays that while I miss my family today I am enjoying not having to worry and rush around. I slept late (8:10). I dont think I have EVER slept in on christmas before, I am sure of it. I hope everyone is as stressfree as me right now.
I was reading up on christmas trees, will leave you with a christmas tree fact:

More than one million acres of land have been planted in Christmas trees. The industry employs over 100,000 people. Many Christmas tree growers grow trees on a part-time basis to supplement farm and non-farm income

See I can blog everyday if I am not working....

But on work days its all I can do to drag my sorry ass to work and home, cook dinner and then read some blogs before bed. I try to be better but the time slips away and its bedtime before you know it.

A comedy of errors with my bloodwork. I went yesterday before dinner, and they wouldnt do it because I forgot I had to fast. So I go back today, I fasted and everything (no coffee this morning or even Strawberry hot chocolate) and they wouldnt do it because my wonderful insurance company requires that they send the blood to their own lab but that lab is closed until Tuesday. So Here I am, I have all my blood in my veins for now. I dont stress out over things like that anymore though, there is no sense in it. So I will have to take time off from work to get it done and I was trying to avoid that.

My friend that is having us to her house tomorrow night called me in tears today. She is one of the strongest people I know and she is having a really bad year. She lost her mom this summer, and her sister is losing her battle with cancer. I feel like an awful friend because I dont know how to comfort her. She was crying and I was crying. I told her I loved her and if she needed anything but it all seems inadequate.
She is still having christmas though she says since her husbands family is in town, so I will see her tomorrow. Maybe I can think of something to say or do in the meantime.

Anyway here is a shot of my puppy, you can see the christmas tree in the background. She is doing great and her hole you can see is all healed! Merry Christmas Eve to all.

8 YEARS.....

Is how long me and the Canadian have been married as of today! Yeah!! Woohooo! He is one of the best things thats ever happened to me, besides my kids. I could get real mushy and sappy and sentimental here but I will spare you. Today we are going to celebrate by getting my blood drawn (how exciting I know) and eating out at O'Charleys. Then coming home to watch TV on the new BIG ass TV he bought for me. Its a 52 inch, flat projection screen. I had NO idea he was even thinking about getting one. I love it but wish there was better shows on TV. I might have to break down and order HBO again before the new Sopranos start.

RIP little glass flamingo friend.......

My kids got this lovely glass flamingo for me when they went to Vegas last month. They managed to transport it without it breaking. The fact they got me anything is amazing since they are into the "its all about me me me" teenage stage. I was really touched and I loved it!! I didnt want to break it and it wasnt in a box or anything so I wrapped it in a pair of sweatpants in my luggage and promptly forgot it was there. So there you have it, I killed it. At least I managed to get a picture first.

Another holiday party tonight..wow its almost like I have a life or something haha

ICE ICE BABY

Can you say cold?? I know you northerners laugh at us in the south when we get winter weather but really we are so not equipped for this!! Major ice storm yesterday, trees down everywhere, power lines down. We didnt have power from about noon yesterday until 6 this morning. We are lucky, lots of people still dont have it. We have our kerosene heater and Hubby collects oil lamps so we had heat and light. Its hard to read by oil lamp though, I had my body contorted to get as close to the lamp as I could to read last night. I dont know how the pioneers did it. We had a minor scare when a tree limb came down on fence (it was a HUGE tree limb) and I was scared to let the dogs out until Hubby came home and fixed it. We were lucky with that too, the top metal bar is twisted but the mesh fencing is still ok. We dont need lost greyhounds in this weather. They werent too interested in going out anyway.

I was tagged yesterday!!!! LOL but I have to get to work so I will do that tomorrow. Thank goodness the weekend is almost here!

Baby Doll?????????

Its a dull week, nothing going on here. I get up, go to work, come home, dinner, check emails and read blogs then bed. BOOORING! I did watch Earl ,and some of Nip Tuck. The only thing that keeps me watching Nip Tuck is to find out who the Carver is!! That Carver creeps me out!! Any ideas? I think its the new doctor in town but I dunno..........

This weekend when I was watchingt Queen of the Damned, the Canadian would come in and check it out every so often when he would take a renovating the kitchen break. There is a scene with Aaliyah (she was the Queen) with vampire fangs and blood running down her chin (she had just munched on someones testicles ewwww) and the Canadian said "You know even with the fangs and the gore, she was still a baby doll." WHA????????? Baby Doll???? I have never heard him use that term before, and he has never ever once referred to me as a baby doll!!! I was jealous of poor Aaliyah, who has been dead for a couple of years now. I know its politically incorrect, but just once I would like to be the baby doll. Sigh. I guess its not going to happen at this point in my life huh?

Total change of subject...most of the celebrity blooger sites are having a field day with the Federlines. Rumor was that she kicked him out last week and replaced her wedding ring with a skull and crossbone ring. HAhahahahahhaahahaha!!!! I have no idea how true that is but Its funny. I doubt its true though. And for now they are back together. Stay tuned for more on these crazy kids.

WHY????

I have been indulging today I something I rarely get a chance to do...lounge around and watch TV...lots of TV. I have the flu or something and pretty much feel like crap on a stick so its all I have the energy to do. What I noticed is all the hype for the new King Kong movie. Now, I have to ask WHY did they redo this one again???? But then I never got the reason to remake the Titanic. I hated that movie, but I think I am only the one that did. While everyone else was sobbing and wailing the end of Jack I was thinking "Come on and Drown already!". But Titanic was a monsterous hit, and I read the reviews of this new King kong and it is getting great reviews. See, this is why I am not in hollywood making the big bucks, I would never have thought to remake King Kong again. Someone did, and someone is racking in the big bucks. Sigh.

I saw The Queen of the Damned on Sci Fi. I read the book and and I see they did a good job and translating book to movie...the movie made no sense and the book really didnt either. I was HOPING for happy christmas movies today BUT NO, that would be silly, show christmas movies at christmas time? I know I am a Bah Humbug but I love me a good sappy christmas movie.

Well I must go cough sneeze and hack some more

Nasty winter colds suck!

Well as you can see my wish that I wasnt getting a cold did not come true. Did that make sense, huh? I am feverish as I type, but hey I got off from work. I have been lucky, the last cold I had was last March as per the prescription bottles. I cant take any good drugs, pretty much its tyenol and musinex.

My friends that came and dogsat last weekend put up a small christmas tree in my house!!!!! Ack. I TOLD them I dont do the decorating thing. But no, they had to leave this charming tree with the most adorable ornament that has all my dogs names on it!! DRAT them!! Now I will forced to decorate every year. My dogs name are, in case anyone is interested, Raven, Mocha, Jeopardy, Melvin, Deuce, Jazzy, Wylie and the Baby Star. There is enough to pull Santa's sled if he gets in any trouble. As for the Christmas tree leaving friends, there will be payback.........

I'll leave you with a picture of my kids. Its their new pose, I dont know what kinda pose it is but if say you want a picture they immediately assume this pose. Must be a teenager thing.

Me: uh..Yeah "standing there with a stupid look"

Mom : Well, I can get anything to make suds anymore. They have done something to our water.

ME still standing there looking stupid with no response.

I survived the weekend trip!

Its not that I wasnt expecting to survive, but I wasnt sure what I would encounter. I still had no idea when/if I would see my kids when I left, and I didnt know what shape what parents would be in. But the kids came a couple of hours after we got there (I got some pics I will post later oh my 2 amazing kids) and my parents...well it wasnt as bad as I expected. My dad was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease 2 1/2 years ago and at the time was given 2 years to live. He is either one tough cookie or the type he has is thankfully not as progressive as they thought at first. My mom kept telling me how bad off he had gotten...but he really looked quite good to me. He stumbled several times, and was pretty tired by the end of our visit, but he didnt seem to be that much worse to me. Now, admited he can put on a show for company and mom sees him at his worse, but I was relieved by what I saw. I really think they need to do something about a wheelchair and some ramps soon though, they are putting off the eneviatable. I am too, because I really dont even like thinking about it. My mom is down to 104 lbs, she looks bad. She has been...how can I put this...odd the last few years. She repeats herself, forgets stuff , gets lost and is VERY paraniod. WE talked her into getting tested for Alzhimers and all the tests were negative but there is something going on with her. But it still was a nice visit. Saw my brother and his wife too. The kids looked great, my son has grown another foot I think. He had all his metals he won at Grappling this year, 14 of them. I made him wear all of them (they are heavy) and got a picture, will post that as soon as I can. I am very proud of him...he is rated #1 in the world in his division in this sport I never heard of before and won a small scholarship! Who knew he had this in him??? I did not. Growing up he was shy and quiet and very non agressive.

Well anyway, I have a travel headache, nothing like a weekend of 14 hours on the road. I am such a bad traveler, but my portable DVD player helps pass the time. This Trip I watched 4 movies, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (read the book, both it and the movie were excellent), Christmas with the Cranks, Sweet home Alabama and The Life Aquatic. I am off to find some Tylenol.......

Later
PS I wasnt driving when I watched the movies, the Canadian wont let me drive, and I hate to anyway so it works out well.

I am cooking in the kitchen!!!

after weeks of fast food and take out and sandwiches, the oven and the stove are hooked up and working!! wooot!! Who would have thought I would be excited to cook??? The only thing I had was some frozen steaks and those suckers are cooking right now! I am going to try to the cooktop range tonight too. AND Dare I even dream this?? Maybe the dishwasher will be working tonight? I doubt it but a gal can dream! I must dash back to the kitchen...I am having a Donna Reed moment!
